'Sea of Love' is a response to a day at the beach letting go of the past and looking to the new. It is fabric and paper collage on A3 deckle edged Khadi paper. It features machine stitch and monoprint.
 
In 2023 I went back to the sketchbook in the pursuit of an expression of the sense of a place, as expressed in raw marks and shape. Texture and pattern are still important but in a more direct and gestural way. I felt pared back and wanted to meet the landscape in my raw state. It feels like a transition and this is a collection of work which I think will form a foundation for some more involved painting, informed by the shapes I have been drawing. I like the direct, unquestioning way in which I created these and it feels like the start of a more confident language to describe my world.
