This has been a year of transition for me personally and creatively. I took myself back to basics with sketchbook exploration. I took away the pressure to create large framed works, instead enjoying pursuing strong shape and raw texture. My colour has been muted and at times I wondered if I had lost it completely.
 
Feeling in flux I decided to try something new and took my mark making onto ceramics, a process I really enjoyed. The inspiration came from the idea of collecting and a display of curios. My beach finds on my holiday to Northumberland in April developed into a series of small ceramic works, with the idea of displaying them alongside nature's gifts.
