Cloth and stitch soothe my soul. I have spent a life time making and sewing. My degree had a specialism in Woven Textiles and I spent ten years as a textile designer, working mostly in embroidered textiles.
Now in mid-life, after many years painting pieces that were layered with paint, collage and machine stitch, I am pulled back to the sensory pleasure of slow stitch, the meditation of the rhythmic pulse of pushing a needle through cloth.
You can find my Stitching the Stillness online course here, and if you have found me through one of the other stitch based courses I have offered to groups online, hello and welcome to my world.

As with my painted pieces, my stitched work is mixed media and gathers in the found and repurposed. I look to nature for inspiration, sometimes inspired by my experience in the fields, sometimes referencing an imagined soul-scape. I bring in the deconstructed, the frayed, the faded, the layered, as metaphors for a journey through time. I work with symbols to tell stories as I evolve my own language to express my midlife metamorphosis.
